This Privacy Policy describes how we (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handle information when you use our Android mobile applications (the “App”). This policy applies to utility apps we publish that customize hardware buttons and related device controls, including Skip Track. These apps let you customize how hardware buttons (such as volume keys) behave on your device—for example, to control media playback, switch between presets, and adjust related settings while the service is enabled.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Information We Collect
We collect or process the following categories of information:
App settings and user preferences (stored on your device)
To provide the App’s core features, the App stores your configuration locally on your device, including:
- Volume button assignments (for example, volume up and volume down, with single tap, double tap, and long press)
- Assigned actions (for example, play/pause, next track, previous track, fast forward, rewind, normal volume adjustment, and no action)
- Screen-state conditions (for example, display on, display off, and display lock)
- Preset selections, custom configurations, and saved snapshots of your settings
- Bluetooth auto-preset settings, if you enable that feature
- Service on/off state, timing thresholds, vibration settings, UI preferences, and other App configuration data
This information is processed and stored locally on your device (for example, in SharedPreferences and related local storage). We do not operate our own server to collect or store your App settings, and we do not sell this information.
Volume button and media control events (processed on your device)
The App monitors volume button presses through system volume and media events while its background service is enabled. Depending on your settings, the App may send media control commands (such as play, pause, skip, rewind, or fast forward) to the Android system on your behalf.
This processing occurs locally on your device to provide App functionality. We do not upload your button presses or media control activity to our servers.
The App may also read basic device state such as whether the screen is on, off, or locked to apply the correct button configuration. This information is processed locally and is not transmitted to us.
Bluetooth audio device connection state (processed on your device)
If you enable Bluetooth auto-preset features, the App may detect whether a Bluetooth audio output device is connected or disconnected so it can switch presets as configured. This information is processed locally on your device and is not transmitted to us.
Automatically collected information (third-party services)
When you use the App, certain information may be collected automatically by third-party services integrated into the App, including:
- Device information (such as device model, operating system version, and language)
- App version and general usage information
- IP address and network-related information
- Advertising ID, where available and permitted
- Crash logs, error reports, and diagnostic information
In release builds of the App, Firebase Analytics (Google) may collect usage information automatically. Firebase Crashlytics (Google) may collect crash and error reports. Analytics is included only in release builds.
Advertising-related information
The App displays advertisements through Google AdMob. Depending on your consent choices and device settings, AdMob and related Google services may collect information such as:
- Advertising ID
- Ad interactions (for example, impressions and clicks)
- Device and app information used to serve and measure ads
The App uses Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request consent where required, including for personalized advertising. If you do not consent to personalized ads, the App may request non-personalized ads instead.
Purchase information
If you purchase a premium subscription or one-time premium feature through Google Play Billing, payment processing is handled by Google. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Google may provide us with purchase status information needed to enable premium features, such as whether a purchase is active.
Information you choose to send us
If you contact us by email, you may choose to include information such as your message, email address, and device details (for example, app version, device model, and Android version). We use this information only to respond to your inquiry.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above for the following purposes:
- To provide, operate, and maintain App features, including volume button customization, media control actions, preset switching, Bluetooth auto-preset switching, home screen widgets, Quick Settings tiles, and related background services when you choose to use them
- To save your preferences and restore App settings on your device
- To display advertisements and, where permitted, measure ad performance
- To analyze App usage and improve stability, performance, and user experience
- To detect, prevent, and address crashes, errors, and technical issues
- To process and verify premium purchases and provide ad-free or premium features
- To comply with applicable laws and enforce our terms
- To respond to support requests and user inquiries
We do not use your App settings, volume button processing, or locally stored App content for advertising profiling, and we do not share that information with third parties for their independent use.
Permissions and Special Access Used by the App
The App requests certain Android permissions to function. These include:
- Foreground service (FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK): to monitor volume button events and run assigned actions in the background while the service is enabled
- Boot completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): to restart the background service after device reboot when you have enabled the service
- Battery optimization exemption (REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS): to help keep the background service reliable
- Notification permission (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): to show service status, preset information, and related notifications
- Internet and network state (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): for ads, app updates, billing, and third-party services
- Wake lock (WAKE_LOCK): for background service reliability related to integrated SDKs
- Advertising ID permission (AD_ID): required for advertising on supported Android versions
- Google Play Billing (com.android.vending.BILLING): to process premium purchases and subscriptions
- Vibrate (VIBRATE): for haptic feedback on double-tap detection, where enabled
The App also provides a Quick Settings tile and home screen widget (where available) to let you control certain App features from system controls or your home screen.
The App does not request location permissions (such as ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION or ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION), Accessibility Service access, notification listener access, camera access, phone access, or storage access.
Background Processing
The App may run in the background while its volume button service is enabled. This includes a foreground service, optional periodic background checks to verify that the service is still running, and related components needed to detect volume button events and run assigned actions.
While the service is active, the App may show a persistent notification indicating that volume button customization is enabled. Event detection and action execution are processed locally on your device to provide App functionality.
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, which may collect information according to their own privacy policies:
- Google AdMob (advertising)
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) (advertising consent)
- Firebase Analytics (usage analytics, release builds)
- Firebase Crashlytics (crash and error reporting)
- Google Play Billing (in-app purchases and subscriptions)
- Google Play In-App Review (optional review prompts)
- Google Play In-App Update (app update prompts)
These services are provided by Google LLC and/or its affiliates. Their handling of information is governed by Google’s policies, including:
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Google Ads / AdMob: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
- Firebase Privacy and Security: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
The App also uses open-source libraries for UI, onboarding, and utility features. These libraries operate locally on your device and are not used by us to collect personal information.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information only in the following circumstances:
- With service providers that help us operate the App (such as Google for ads, analytics, crash reporting, and billing), subject to their privacy policies
- When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
- To protect the rights, safety, and security of users, us, or others
- In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, if applicable
App settings, volume button processing, and locally stored App content are not shared with third parties except as necessary to provide the App features described above (for example, displaying ads or processing purchases through Google services).
Data Retention
Information stored locally on your device remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App. You can also reset App settings within the App.
Information collected by third-party services is retained according to those providers’ policies and settings. You may be able to limit certain collection through your device settings, ad personalization settings, or consent choices presented in the App.
Data Deletion
To remove locally stored App data, you can:
- Uninstall the App from your device, which removes local preferences and files stored by the App
- Use the App’s reset function to clear settings and related local data
- Disable the background service in the App or uninstall the App to stop background processing
Deleting the App does not delete information already collected by third-party services such as Google. To manage or delete data held by Google, refer to Google’s privacy tools and your Google account settings.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures designed to protect information handled by the App. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Because most App data is stored locally on your device, keeping your device secure (such as using a screen lock) helps protect your information. Your App settings may reflect how you use your device, so please use caution when granting system permissions.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, such as the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing, or to object to certain uses.
You can make the following choices in the App or on your device:
- Manage ad consent through the consent flow provided in the App (Google UMP)
- Reset your advertising ID or limit ad personalization in your Android device settings
- Disable notifications in Android settings
- Turn off the App’s background service or uninstall the App to stop volume button processing
- Reset App settings or uninstall the App to remove locally stored configuration data
- Cancel subscriptions through Google Play: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7018481
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other regions with similar laws, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
International Data Transfers
Third-party service providers such as Google may process information on servers located outside your country of residence. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries that may have different data protection laws than your country.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
