This Privacy Policy describes how BatteryPods (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the BatteryPods Android application (the “App”). BatteryPods displays battery status and related information for Bluetooth devices such as Apple AirPods and Beats when used on Android.
By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Information We Collect
We collect or process the following categories of information:
Bluetooth and device information (stored on your device)
To provide the App’s core features, the App accesses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and classic Bluetooth data from nearby or paired devices. This may include:
- Device names and device types (for example, AirPods or Beats models)
- Battery levels for left earbud, right earbud, and charging case
- Charging and connection status
- Bluetooth device identifiers, such as MAC addresses obtained through paired or classic Bluetooth connections
- Proximity-related signal information (RSSI) used for features such as device finder
- On-device sensor data used for supported features such as head tracking and gesture detection
This information is processed and stored locally on your device (for example, in app databases and settings). We do not operate our own server to collect or store your Bluetooth device data, and we do not sell this information.
App settings and user content (stored on your device)
The App stores preferences and configuration data locally, such as:
- Notification, alarm, and widget settings
- Volume key and gesture settings
- UI customization settings, including user-selected images for widgets or overlays
Automatically collected information (third-party services)
When you use the App, certain information may be collected automatically by third-party services integrated into the App, including:
- Device information (such as device model, operating system version, and language)
- App version and general usage information
- IP address and network-related information
- Advertising ID, where available and permitted
- Crash logs, error reports, and diagnostic information
In release builds of the App, Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (Google) may collect this type of information automatically. Debug builds do not send crash reports to Firebase Crashlytics.
Advertising-related information
The App displays advertisements through Google AdMob. Depending on your consent choices and device settings, AdMob and related Google services may collect information such as:
- Advertising ID
- Ad interactions (for example, impressions and clicks)
- Device and app information used to serve and measure ads
The App uses Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request consent where required, including for personalized advertising. If you do not consent to personalized ads, the App may request non-personalized ads instead.
Purchase information
If you purchase a premium subscription or one-time premium feature through Google Play Billing, payment processing is handled by Google. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. Google may provide us with purchase status information needed to enable premium features, such as whether a purchase is active.
1.6 Information you choose to send us
If you contact us by email, you may choose to include information such as your message, email address, and device details (for example, app version, device model, and Android version). We use this information only to respond to your inquiry.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above for the following purposes:
- To provide, operate, and maintain App features, including battery monitoring, notifications, widgets, overlays, and device controls
- To save your preferences and restore App settings on your device
- To display advertisements and, where permitted, measure ad performance
- To analyze App usage and improve stability, performance, and user experience
- To detect, prevent, and address crashes, errors, and technical issues
- To process and verify premium purchases and provide ad-free or premium features
- To comply with applicable laws and enforce our terms
- To respond to support requests and user inquiries
We do not use Bluetooth device data for advertising profiling, and we do not share Bluetooth device data with third parties for their independent use.
Permissions Used by the App
The App requests certain Android permissions to function. These include:
- Bluetooth permissions (BLUETOOTH_CONNECT, BLUETOOTH_SCAN): to scan for and connect to Bluetooth devices and read battery and related status information
- Foreground service permissions: to monitor connected Bluetooth devices in the background
- Notification permission (POST_NOTIFICATIONS): to show battery status and related alerts
- Display over other apps (SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW): to show overlay or popup UI, such as a Dynamic Island-style display
- Boot completed (RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED): to optionally restart background monitoring after device reboot, if enabled
- Battery optimization exemption (REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS): to help keep background monitoring reliable when you choose to enable it
- Internet and network state (INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE): for ads, app updates, billing, and third-party services
- Advertising ID permission (AD_ID): required for advertising on supported Android versions
- Vibrate (VIBRATE): for haptic feedback in supported features
The App declares BLUETOOTH_SCAN with neverForLocation, meaning the App does not use Bluetooth scanning to determine your physical location. The App does not request location permissions (such as ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION or ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION).
For more information about Bluetooth permissions on Android, see:
https://developer.android.com/develop/connectivity/bluetooth/bt-permissions
Background Processing
BatteryPods may run a foreground service to continuously receive Bluetooth data from nearby or connected devices, show notifications, and support widgets and related features. Depending on your settings, the App may also start automatically after device reboot.
Bluetooth data obtained through this background processing is used only to provide App functionality on your device.
Third-Party Services
The App uses the following third-party services, which may collect information according to their own privacy policies:
- Google AdMob (advertising)
- Google User Messaging Platform (UMP) (advertising consent)
- Firebase Analytics (usage analytics, release builds)
- Firebase Crashlytics (crash and error reporting, release builds)
- Google Play Billing (in-app purchases and subscriptions)
- Google Play In-App Review (optional review prompts)
- Google Play In-App Update (app update prompts)
These services are provided by Google LLC and/or its affiliates. Their handling of information is governed by Google’s policies, including:
- Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Google Ads / AdMob: https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads
- Firebase Privacy and Security: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
The App also uses open-source libraries for UI and utility features (such as onboarding, image cropping, and color selection). These libraries operate locally on your device and are not used by us to collect personal information.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information only in the following circumstances:
- With service providers that help us operate the App (such as Google for ads, analytics, crash reporting, and billing), subject to their privacy policies
- When required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request
- To protect the rights, safety, and security of users, us, or others
- In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger or acquisition, if applicable
Bluetooth device data and locally stored App settings are not shared with third parties except as necessary to provide the App features described above (for example, displaying ads or processing purchases through Google services).
Data Retention
Information stored locally on your device remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
Information collected by third-party services is retained according to those providers’ policies and settings. You may be able to limit certain collection through your device settings, ad personalization settings, or consent choices presented in the App.
- Data Deletion
To remove locally stored App data, you can:
- Uninstall the App from your device, which removes local databases, preferences, and files stored by the App
- Use in-app reset options, where available, to clear certain settings and stored content
Deleting the App does not delete information already collected by third-party services such as Google. To manage or delete data held by Google, refer to Google’s privacy tools and your Google account settings.
Data Security
We take reasonable measures designed to protect information handled by the App. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Because most App data is stored locally on your device, keeping your device secure (such as using a screen lock) helps protect your information.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
Your Privacy Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal information, such as the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain processing, or to object to certain uses.
You can make the following choices in the App or on your device:
- Manage ad consent through the consent flow provided in the App (Google UMP)
- Reset your advertising ID or limit ad personalization in your Android device settings
- Disable notifications in Android settings
- Revoke permissions such as Bluetooth, overlay, or notification access in Android settings
- Cancel subscriptions through Google Play: https://support.google.com/googleplay/answer/7018481
If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, or other regions with similar laws, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
International Data Transfers
Third-party service providers such as Google may process information on servers located outside your country of residence. By using the App, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in countries that may have different data protection laws than your country.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the App after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy, unless applicable law requires otherwise.
